What's the best hunting dog for hunting moose, mainly elk?

I already have one hunting dog, but she only goes as far as small deer and full-sized turkey; I want a dog that can hunt big guys like Colorado's elk and some moose rather than birds. I hunt alone, so he can be huge; I need a dog that can herd an elk, or sniff one out at the very least. If a small pack of the breed you suggest can injure an elk all on their own, even better. I don't want to have a huge dog pack; 2, maybe 4 dogs? The dog breed has to be adaptable to mountain terrain.
