Anybody who has read "The Crucible" answer this please?

Well Rebeca Nurse and John Proctor were accused of witch craft. If they really wanted to they could have confessed and said that they were practicing witchcraft. That way they weren't killed. They were"confessing" and opening up for god to come in them. But since they didn't want to lie and say they were practicing witchcraft they were died. So I guess they died with dignity. hope that help.
