Can my blood clot kill me?

I had a blood test on thursday and she struck a nerve the pain was unbearable, since then i've been in pain & when I move my arm it twinges and aches so much. I can't even lift something without it hurting or move my arm much. I went to A&E/E.R & they said it was a blood clot, He said to take paracetemol (which im allergic to) he didn't care & he said that I should move it about. That was it. Shouldn't I be given tablets or support or something to make it better? I'm really worried as every site and even NHS says that I should have been given medicine. Helo???
