I gauged my ears and they're oozing and bleeding, are they infected?

Generally when you gauge your ears they will be red and irritated, maybe a little "oozing" of a clear liquid. Your body is attempting to heal them back up as quickly as possible. If they are extremely hot, swollen, they are more than likely infected or you are having an allergic reaction to the metal in the earrings you are using. I would suggest using a medical grade stainless steel if you find your ears are sensitive to metals. (my ears get almost immediate infection like symptoms if the metal in them contain any trace of nickel, which is a common metal used in jewelry) I would call a local tattoo/piercing parlor to find out what the best waiting time is between gauging your ears. One week isn't very long considering your ear tissue does not get a lot of blood flow (the higher the blood flow the faster the wound heals generally) Stick to a size 8 until you have gotten an earring in a better grade of metal and keep them clean! good luck.
