Does it sound silly (and selfish)...(looking for a few more opinions please)?

I think you really need to talk with your parents. Tell them you appreciate their support, but your MAJOR is not exactly what you want for yourself right now. I think they might be upset, but will understand when they see that you are happier with something else. I'm a parent and while my son tells me things I don't always want to hear, it does ease my mind when he opens up to me. Parents want their kids to be happy. Talk with them and share your pion, they will understand.
