Confidence in high school; socializing?

just be yourself. dont give in to peer pressure. ask somebody about the homework then just start a conforsation from there. but dont do the same thing with everybody. maybe next time you could ask somebody how there book is.dont worry about getting rejected, remember that everybody gets rejected at some time. and maybe the person you talk to is having the same problems you are haveing. you could even help people out then people will know you as someone nice.
